They are for my niece who lives in Argentina, so even if she does not need the replacement yet, I am taking advantage of my next trip to bring her some just in case. By the way, she is over the moon with the Flexyfoot ferrules, I never saw her this happy before, she feels steadier than ever!
So, on behalf of her, thank you so much for designing these ferrules!
well i completed my challange of walking from Dublin to Limerick [257 KILOMETERS] IN 5,5DAYS ,on crutches and on one leg, i must say that without my flexyfoot ferruls i would not of finished injury free,Without a doubt they were my secret weapon in this challange. The road surface was rough tar and chip and the ferruls stood up to there name and lasted the disstance ,Another problem we found was at the edge of the road we walked on fell sharp away to one side , but the flexyfoot ferruls were more than able to counter act this with there flexibility, keeping me even at all time so i was not leaning to one side, preventing me from injury,One of the days we were on the road we had terenchal rain and as the days before were hot ,the rain made the road surface very slippery , but this again was no problem for the flexyfoot ferruls as they griped the surface well ,keeping full contact with the ground at all times no matter what the conditions were. Our team sports injury therapist [orla smyth] also agreed with me that i would have done serious damage to my shoulders , wrists and back had it not been for my flexyfoot ferruls, she was also very impressed with your product.Flexyfoot is truly a simple but remarkable product that has given me an oppotunity to keep active without causing injury to my self ..for this i would like to thank all involved at flexyfoot and congratulate you all on a first class product and servise you offer, should people wish to know more on our challenge for photos and more please go to our face book page .. one step at a time 2011,
I was in telephone contact with David back in May due to an error with my order which was speedily sorted I promised to report back. After an extended holiday – here are my findings!
No neck pain, I had been receiving physiotherapy for severe pain in my arthritic neck, this was partially due to referred pain from using a walking stick!
No pain in my wrist, elbow or shoulder from using a stick.
I found the Flexyfoot gave me more confidence when walking especially in the wet and copes well on uneven surfaces.
Flexyfoot makes a more comfortable walk giving more “bounce” and has given me more confidence.
All round the best ferrule I have ever used!! Thank you very much, David!
I am really happy with the flexyfoot, I feel safer as a I use a pair of crutches all the time the aching in arms and shoulders I felt when using conventional ferrules has eased due to the Flexyfoot taking the strain from me. I can now go out in the rain and not be afraid of slipping as I did several times with the old ferrules I can walk out on my own without feeling the need to take someone with me in case I slip a whole new lease of life!! I also recomend Flexyfoot to people who notice them. Thankyou very much.
I am a below knee amputee and in 2008 I completed the Dublin marathon on crutches and on one leg, at the time earning myself a place in the guinness book of records. The biggest problem I found was with my ferruls even tho at the time I thought I had purchased good quality ones. I found they wore out quick and uneaven, my wrists became sore due to the pounding every time the crutches hit the ground sending vibrations up my arms. I am about to embark on a new challange in august 2011 and that is to walk on the crutches on one leg from Dublin to Limerick, Ireland in 6 days, this is a journey of some 257 killometers. So in my search of ferruls I came across flexyfoot and contacted them to say I would really put this product to the test and they sent me some samples. I started to train for my event covering 20 miles in one session some days. I could not believe how good this product was… I am 14 stone and I travel at speed with big swinging motions as I move on the crutches. First thing I felt was safe knowing the ferruls were flat on the ground with good contact and grip as I swung my body forward, I also noticed my arms and wrists were not sore as the shock system in the ferruls had reduced the vibrations comming up threw the crutches, this also helped reduce the blisters to my palms, they also seem to last the distance too, all I can say is I feel flexyfoot ferrul will play a big part in me completing my challange ahead… I am very impressed and will give a full up date when i have it completed. Congrats on a great product.
I walk in callipers with a swing-through gait, so my crutches take quite a punishment. I can’t speak too highly of the improved comfort, durability and security of grip on a wide variety of surfaces which FlexyFoot offers. With knees locked, I’m potentially vulnerable to falls if a crutch tip slips, and I’ve felt confident to increase my stride length and pace of walking with FlexyFoot. Calliper walking takes a lot of energy in any circumstances, so any measure which improves comfort and reduces fatigue is more than welcome. Well done!
We received this email on 21st March 2011:
“Hello David
I recently had a suuccessful hip replacement but was experiencing a balance problem when walking with my standard elbow crutch and then a friend introduced me to FlexyFoot ferrules.
My order was politely and efficiently handled and I fitted one as instructed and immediately my balance problems were imptoved and a very big plus is that I walk much more confidently now on wet and slippery surfaces.
Thank you Mr. Goodwin”
We received a letter with this testimonial from an existing customer who recently ordered another Flexyfoot:
‘Suffering with constant severe lower back pain, I have found walking with a unique designed Flexyfoot ferrule fitted to my walking stick is a blessing, as it restricted the jarring to my spine with each step taken and I felt so much more comfortable and safe as a result’
21st March 2011 Mrs Roberts
I was sat at a bus stop one day when a guy on crutches walked past and stopped to ask about my leg (i’ve currently got an external fixator). He asked how long i was going to be on crutches and i said about 18 months and he said, ‘you need to get some of these, they’ll make a huge difference’ and showed me the Flexyfoot he had. He told me all about the website and how he was doing some trials for you and then said, if you hang on i’ve a spare set in my car and returned a couple of minutes later with them and insisted i take them. My bus then arrived and i never got his name or anything to thank him properly. However, i’ve been eternally grateful to him ever since!! I’d been really struggling with pains in my wrists and shoulders but the Flexyfoot has completely stopped all of that. And i was pretty nervous going out when it was wet, especially going into shops and buses as i’d had a couple of slips but since getting the Flexyfoot it hasn’t happened at all!!I can’t believe such a simple looking thing can change your life so much and i think all crutches should be automatically fitted with them! I’ve told my surgeon and physiotherapist all about them and given them the website details as they were very keen on passing the details on to other patients of theirs as i gather it is a very common complaint.
P.S. – i do about 2 miles per day. Actually, it’s amazing how much longer the Flexyfoot lasts compared to normal ferrules. I used to get through them about once a month!
Congratulations, David on your award. I found the reference to FlexyFoot quite by chance. You always were a lateral thinking inventor. Well done. Remember me to Carol and your mum Nancy. All best wishes, Robert.
I am so please with my Flexyfeet for my crutches! have had less problems with my hands and arms with the cushioning effect of them. Also they are so easy to walk with in snow, still a bit slippy on ice but then what isn’t! I wouldn’t have been able to get out in all the snow we’ve had at all with conventional ferrules on but the flexyfoot stayed flat where ever I put my crutches down brilliant thank you so much for such a simple invention
When i bought my Flexyfeet at Nadex i didn’t expect them to have the impact they did. I was more than sceptical – how can a mini-suspension kit affect my walking sticks??? The transformation was amazing. All the jarring and thudding of persistent walking was taking its toll on my wrists and elbows, but with Flexyfeet all that was taken away. They are ingenius! I have recently changed my sticks to ones without Flexyfeet and i thought i wouldn’t be able to tell, but it has taken me only days to order a new set for my new sticks as without the Flexyfeet i ache, i can’t walk as far because my body is jarred persistently and my core even walks in an incorrect way to compensate for the pain, leaving me with the only conclusion – Flexyfeet not help with the pain of walking but they also allow me to walk correctly. How did we ever live without them?
Hallo,
I am writing with nothing but praise, for the ingenious ferrul.
i was reading my september copy of the YOURS MAGAZINE a mine of information indeed.
i was reading a help page, a woman had written in and asked is there such an aid which she can
attach to her walking stick? to stop her walking stick slipping awayh from ehr when it was
wet outside/ and especially in shops/ they may look lovely, but to me and a lot of people
they are a distaster waiting to happen/ not wanting to sound negative not at all
well i couldnt believe it. so i immediatly went online and ordered my 19 inch ferrul
and also i am very impressed with the idea of a shock obsorber, which takes the pressure of the
when the stick touches the pavement.
and it arrived so very quick also.
thank you..
i take my hat of you whoever designed this. well done .
i am so pleased. feeling much more confident now to attack the stores now ( retail therapy) i mean.
no stopping me now.
from one grateful and relieved mere mortal/look out shops here we come ha ha ..

Hello,
I spent quite a time talking to you at the Naidex show, earlier this year. I bought one of you ferrules for my blue crutch, which you kindly fitted for me there & then! (It has worn a bit now, so I guess I will have to get a replacement soon.) But it is brilliant!
Well it is definitely an improvement on the usual ones. I feel so much more stable & secure. It allows for more movement with the swivel & I love the security of feeling that it won’t slide away on wet paving slabs etc.
So thankyou for this wonderful adaption, that will benifit all of us that have mobility problems. I spoke to you, explaining about our support group, in the hope that I can spread the word for you.
So thanks once again & I shall keep in touch.
Regards
Gloria Neale
I found them much more usable and durable than the original ferrules. They gave me better grip and the flexible bellows actually meant I could take longer strides, more safely on my crutches. Lastly, they made my crutches quieter to use, which my wife was certainly pleased with when I was clattering around our wooden floors at home
Hello David,
I doubt you will remember me, but on the last day of the exhibition, I visited your stand and purchased a new walking stick ‘bung’, (for want of a better phrase). You fitted it there and then, and later in the day I returned and purchased another for my other walking stick. You kindly gave me a spare orange ‘base’, and asked me if I would email my thoughts back to yourselves. Well, I have not forgotten, but decided to give it a good trial on various surfaces before answering.
1) Shinny tiled shop precincts which are prone to be slippy in certain conditions, NO problems.
2) Grass, wet and dry, NO problems.
3) Paths, public, rough or smooth, NO problems.
4) Steps and stairs, of all sorts, NO problems.
5) Last, BUT, most importantly for me: Due to the ‘swivel effect’, and the slight ‘spring effect’ it has firstly stopped the walking stick ‘slipping away’ from me in certain circumstances, and also greatly help take the pressure off my wrists which have arthritis. To people with Arthritis, they would understand how this can greatly help, especially if using for long periods.
Thank you, every little thing helps in certain circumstances, so please feel free to quote my comments, and name if wished. My pleasure.
Just to say that the 19mm feet have arrived together with the spares pieces you kindly put in.
This looks like a very good product and we are pleased to give them a try.
Thank you for your help and I will be pleased to be the first of many to give you a good feedback.
thank you.
Maureen
I have been an elbow crutch user for over fifty years and it has taken its toll on many of my arm and shoulder joints. I have recently discovered Flexyfoot ferrules for my crutches. What a transformation. They have a mini suspension system which absorbs the shock of each step you take. I feel a dramatic difference from the previous jarring to the new springy sensation. I also feel much safer on slippery surfaces because of the way the bottom of the ferrule stays parallel to floor whilst the upper bit flexes. Another big plus is that I no longer leave concentric circles of mud on the floor as I did with my old ferrules, as the Flexyfoot has a different design on the bottom that does not seem to hold the dirt, nor pick up small stones. I just wish these had been invented years ago!!!
