Devon Disability Collective, based in Devon, is a social enterprise that provides employment and training for people with disabilities and those furthest from the labour market through our own commercial enterprises.

Flexyfoot’s quality manager

The DDC staff undertook a business takeover from Pluss, an organisation run by the county council about 18 months ago, when Pluss closed down. The long-serving members of staff, most of whom are disabled, now own and manage the business, which has been operating for over 55 years in a 10,000 sq ft factory based on Marsh Barton Industrial Estate in Exeter. They are making a range of products, from sheepskin cushions to motorcycle seats.

“We are delighted to be working with Devon Disability Collective and help reduce the unfair disadvantages that disabled people face in the job market” – says David Goodwin, our founder and CEO. – “Flexyfoot is a company that strives to make people’s lives better through innovative technology and DDC’s ethos of enhancing independence and opportunity for those with disabilities is totally in line with our philosophy and values.”

“Devon Disability Collective is delighted to be working with Flexyfoot and their innovative and exciting products that help people with disabilities” – says marketing and business development director Luke Rogers – “This product couldn’t have been a better match for us and we look forward to building on this great relationship as the business grows”.

Flexyfoot is not only designed in the UK, we are also proud to make it here using quality British suppliers. DDC now assemble and package our walking sticks and ferrules in their factory in Exeter and ship them direct worldwide. DDC also operate a fully stocked mobility showroom onsite, so if you would like to try our walking sticks and ferrules, and get expert advice, just pop in – they are now open on Saturdays too!
