How to walk with crutches?
Flexyfoot Crutches provide support and balance for people that need to take the weight off one leg. They afford greater stability than a walking stick and are often used after an operation or injury to a leg, knee, ankle or foot.
Firstly, ensure that your crutches are the right height for you. This can be achieved by resting the crutches either side of your body so that the handle reaches the crease of your wrist. When walking, place the crutches a short distance in front of you ensuring the crutches are slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Lean on the crutches and shift your weight forward using your forearms to bear your weight, rather than your elbows. Swing your good leg forward placing it flat on the ground keeping your other leg next to the good leg.
